Gastronomic Tour in Georgia

Day 1: Departure from Poland- Arrive at Tbilisi International Airport.

Transfer to a hotel. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2: Tbilisi.

Today you will have a combination of sightseeing and walking tour of Tbilisi, a charming city built in the 5th century along the twisting valley of Mtkvari River. You will start the tour in Old Town by visiting the 13th century Metekhi church. Afterwards a cable car will take you up to the 4th century Narikala Fortress, from which you can enjoy a picturesque panoramic view of Tbilisi. Then you will continue excursion to Abanotubani, visit brick-domed Sulfur Baths, where you can enjoy a bath and massage.

Lunch and culinary master class at restaurant “Shemoixede Genasvale”, where you can participate in cooking traditional Georgian Khachapuri (cheese-filled bread), “Karcho” (soup with meat) and egg plant with walnuts.Then you will visit Synagogue, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica; Afterwards you can enjoy a walk on Rustaveli Avenue. Dinner at the restaurant “Old Town” in Tbilisi accompanied by Georgian folk performance. Overnight at a hotel in Tbilisi.

Day 3: Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Tbilisi.

Today you will visit the ancient capital of Georgia Mtskheta, situated at the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers; Mtskheta is the site of the first Christian church in Georgia. You will visit Jvari Monastery (6th century), Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century). Lunch and culinary master class at the restaurant “Tamariani”, where you can participate in cooking “Lobio” (popular Georgian hot dish made with kidney beans) and “Lobiani” ( bean-filled bread), “Ispanakhi” (spinach salad), “Mchadi” ( Georgian cornbread - traditionally eaten with Lobio and cheese), “Shkmeruli” – chicken cooked in milk and garlic. Return to Tbilisi. Dinner at Restaurant “Mirzaani”. Overnight at a hotel in Tbilisi.

Day 4: Tbilisi – Bodbe – Sighnaghi - Kvareli.

Today you will visit Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino (4th century), then you will continue towards the fortified town of Sighnaghi, overlooking the Alazani valley. The town preserved its original image and now offers visitors stunning views of the surrounding Caucasus Mountains. Lunch and culinary master class at local wine cellar “Wine World”, where you will participate in cooking Khinkali (Georgian dumpling made of twisted knobs of dough, stuffed with meat and spices) and Mtsvadi (Georgian barbecue cooked with pork). Proceed to Kvareli and enjoy wine tasting at “Kindzmarauli” wine cellar in Kvareli.  Overnight and dinner at a hotel in Kvareli.

Day 5: Kvareli – Gremi – Alaverdi – Tsinandali - Tbilisi.

Today you will visit Gremi - 16th-century architectural monument – the royal citadel and the Church of the Archangels. Then you will continue excursion to Alaverdi Cathedral (11th century) and Tsinandali, which was the estate of the Chavchavadze family – representatives of the 19th century Georgian aristocracy. A walk through the beautiful English-style garden will take you to the house-museum of the famous poet and duke Alexander Chavchavadze and the winery. Visit local Wine Cellar in Napareuli, where you can enjoy wine tasting , making Churchkhela (Traditional Georgian candy made with grape juice and walnut) and baking “Dedas Puri” (traditional Georgian bread). Come back to Tbilisi. Dinner at the restaurant “Chela”. Overnight at a hotel in Tbilisi.

Day 6: Tbilisi - Gori - Uplistsikhe - Tbilisi.

Today you will visit a small town of Gori - located in the very heart of Georgia. The 7th-century fortress of Goris-Tsikhe still dominates the town. Gori is also famous as the birthplace of one of the 20th century’s most controversial leaders - Joseph Jughashvili, better known as Stalin, the “Man of Steel”. Here you can visit the Stalin Museum, the tiny house where he was born, his private railway carriage and then walk to the city centre. Lunch in “Sport Cafe” or “Nacharmagevi”. Visit Uplistsikhe - the oldest cave town in Georgia. Back in the first millennium BC it was a flourishing city situated on the great east-west trade route, the Silk Road. Visitors can still walk among the ancient streets, rock-carved theatre, royal halls, pharmacy, pagan temples and Christian churches. Culinary master class and dinner at the restaurant “Keria” in Tbilisi. Here you can participate in a cooking process of traditional western Georgian dishes “Gebjalia” (cooked with cheese, “Nadugi” and mint) and “ Elarji” (cooked with coarse cornmeal, corn flour and Sulguni cheese). Overnight at at hotel in Tbilsi.

Day 7: Tbilisi.

Today you can enjoy free time in Tbilisi and farewell dinner at the restaurant “Mravaljamieri”.

Day 8: Departure from Tbilisi International Airport.
