Georgia - Armenia

Armenia - a country of the South Caucasus, located in the north-west of the Armenian highlands, called historical Armenia, between the Black and Caspian Seas. Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi

Transfer from Tbilisi airport to the hotel. Hotel accommodation. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2: Tbilisi

Breakfast at the hotel. Tbilisi sightseeing tour – the Old and New parts of Town. Tbilisi offers a great variety of sights, most of them very ancient. All the places of interest in the Old Town are very close to each other, within a few minutes’ walk. We start our day in Old Tbilisi. The first destination is 13th century Metekhi Church, then walk up to the brick-domed Sulphur Baths houses (17th century). From the Baths we head up the hill to visit Narikala Fortress – one of the oldest fortifications in the city. Afterwards we continue to the Synagogue, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Church (the oldest church in town). This marks the end of the Old Town. After lunch we visit the stunning treasury of the Georgian National Museum, before taking a stroll along Rustaveli Avenue – the main street in Tbilisi. Dinner in the restaurant with folk show program. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 3: Tbilisi -Telavi Sighnaghi – Bodbe – Tbilisi

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Tsinandali - a village noted for the estate and its historic winery that once belonged to the 19th-century aristocratic poet Alexander Chavchavadze. We will have an excursion in the family museum and a walk in the park beautifully laid out in an English style, with fine views and exotic plants. Afterwards continue to Signagi - a small beautiful city in Kiziqi (part of Kakheti region), famous as “City of love”. Signagi is a rare example of historic city. It kept its style during the centuries , with open traditional balconies, unique fortress with churches built in it and towers. The city overlooks the Alazani valley and opens to visitors the magnificent views of the Great Caucasus Range. After lunch visit Monastery of Bodbe - final resting place of Saint Nino, "Enlightener of Georgians", who preached Christianity in Georgia in the 4th century with a vine cross in her hand. In the evening return to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 4: Tbilisi Mtskheta Gudauri

Breakfast at the hotel. We drive to visit the ancient capital and religious centre of Georgia – Mtskheta (3000 years old) and see its historical places: Jvari church (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), where the Robe of Christ is buried. Both Jvari and Svetitskhoveli are UNESCO World Heritage sites. After lunch we visit Antique ruins of the city and drive along the famous Georgian Military Highway, en route visit Ananuri architectural complex (17th century). The drive is very scenic as it heads up into the Great Caucasus mountains. Hotel accommodation. Overnight in Gudauri ski resort (2200 m.).

Day 5: Gudauri Kazbegi Tbilisi

Breakfast at the hotel. A stunning drive from Gudauri along the Tergi River will bring us to Kazbegi – the main town in the region. From Kazbegi a leisurely 2 hours walk up through beautiful valleys and woodland leads us to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2170m. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt Kazbegi (5047m). Return to Tbilisi. Hotel accommodation and overnight.

Day 6: Tbilisi- Sadakhlo-Haghpat-Dilijan-Sevan-Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Sadakhlo. Meeting with the guide at the border of Sadakhlo. Visiting Haghpat monastery, a masterpiece of religious architecture, which is in the list of World Cultural Heritage. Arrive to Dilijan resort- town. City tour in Old Dilijan. Visiting Lake Sevan and Sevan peninsula with Sevanavanq monastery. Return to Yerevan.

Day 7: Yerevan-Echmiadzin-Garni-Gegard-Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to the Main Cathedral of Echmiadzin 301- 303. Visiting the ruines of Zvartnots Temple. Trip to Kotayq region, visiting Garni Pagan Temple and Geghard cave monastery. Return to Yerevan.

Day 8:

Free time. Transfer from the hotel to airport and departure.
