Day 1: Arrival

Depart for Tbilisi. Pick up from Tbilisi international airport. Hotel accommodation and overnight in Tbilisi (-/-/-)

Day 2: Tbilisi city tour

After a leisurely breakfast start sightseeing and walking tour of Tbilisi, a charming town built in the 5th century along the twisting valley of Mtkvari River. All the places of interest are very close to each other, within a few minutes’ walk. Start the visit from Metekhi (13th century) plateau, before taking the cable car to Narikala Fortress which dominates the skyline of the Old Town. Continue to explore brick-domed underground sulfur baths (17th century) – the district of naturally hot mineral waters, cafe street Shardeni, Synagogue, Sioni Cathedral and the most ancient church in Tbilisi Anchiskhati (6th century). In the evening visit traditional Georgian restaurant where you will have master class of making Georgian national dishes Khachapuri – cheese filled bread, Mchadi – maize-bread and beans in traditional clay pots. Enjoy delicious lunch. Afterwards proceed to visit national museum of Georgia that preserves and exhibits a unique collection of natural and human history. One of the most important collections of the museum features gold and silver artifacts and jewelry from the pre-Christian period from various regions of the country. Walk along Rustaveli Avenue with souvenir shopping possibility. In the evening dinner at the traditional Georgian restaurant followed with folk show.

Day 3: Tbilisi – Sighnaghi – Velistsikhe – Kvareli (180 km.)

After breakfast at the hotel drive to Kakheti region Georgia’s premier wine-producing area and visit Sighnaghi - a small beautiful city that opens to visitors the magnificent views of the Great Caucasus Range. This little town is a rare example of historic city which kept its style during the centuries with open traditional balconies, unique fortress with churches built in it and towers. Proceed to Velistiskhe and enjoy the hospitality of the local people and sample some home-made food and wine with delicious lunch. Take part in the master class of making Mtsvadi – beef impaled on a stick and cooked over an open flame and Churchkhela – typical Georgian sweet made of walnuts in grape juice. Discover the old and traditional art of winemaking using the winepress and the Qvevri (egg-shaped earthenware vessel in which wine is fermented and stored in villages and towns throughout Georgia). Head to Kvareli.

Day 4: Kvareli – Gremi – Tsinandali – Telavi – Alaverdi – Tbilisi (200 km.)

After breakfast in the morning visit winery in Kvareli – where you will be able to see how the unique vine culture is maintained both using ancient methods and modern technologies. Enjoy wine tasting together with the fascinating view over Alazani valley. Afterwards drive to Tsinandali. En route photo stop at Gremi fortress (16th century) – the royal citadel and the Church of the Archangels. Arrive in Tsinandali – a village noted for the surrounding estate and its historic winery that belonged to the 19th century aristocratic poet Alexander Chavchavadze. Enjoy an excursion in the family museum and a walk in the park beautifully laid out in an English style with fine views and exotic plants. Continue our way to Telavi and visit food market where stalls are loaded with fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, spices and drinks. Afterwards savor delicious lunch with family wine at the local family with the food typical of this region. Here you will have master class of making Georgian National dish eggplant with walnut sauce. Then proceed to visit one of the highest cathedrals in Georgia – Alaverdi Monastery, built in 11th century. In the evening, return to Tbilisi through picturesque Gombori Pass (1700 m.).

Day 5: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Kazbegi – Gergeti Trinity church – Gudauri (230 km.)

After breakfast in the morning visit Mtskheta – an ancient capital of Georgia, important religious centre and city-museum which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Along the way, we will stop to visit the Jvari Monastery (6th cen.). This well-known monastery is located on the top of the mountain, at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. Continue to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th cen.) which is known as a place where Christ’s robe was buried. Walk along the narrow streets of Mtskheta with souvenir shopping possibility. Continue very scenic drive up through the High Caucasus Mountains along the Georgian Military Highway. Arrive in Gudauri and photo stop at the monument of Friendship. Continue our magnificent tour across the Cross Pass (2395 m.) and along the Tergi River that brings us to Kazbegi – main town in this region. Drive with 4X4 vehicle from Kazbegi through Gergeti village and up to the Gergeti Holy Trinity church (14th century), stunningly located on a hilltop (2170 m.) both overlooking the surrounding snowy peaks of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Here you will enjoy unique nature with beautiful panoramic views of Caucasus, including mount Kazbegi (5047m.). In the evening return to Gudauri.

Day 6: Gudauri – Ananuri – Château Mukhrani – Prometheus cave – Kutaisi (350 km.)

After breakfast in the morning visit Ananuri architectural complex (17th century) overlooking a reservoir over the Aragvi River. The carvings on the churches are one of the best samples of the Georgian art. Then drive to Mukhrani winery and visit the Prince Bagrationi’s castle with the first Georgian Château and enjoy famous Georgian wine. Here you will have possibility to take part in the master class of bread baking. Afterwards proceed to the magnificent Prometheus Caves - one of Georgia’s natural wonders providing visitors with breathtaking examples of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, petrified waterfalls, cave pearls, underground rivers, and lakes.

In the evening arrive in Kutaisi. Hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight in Kutaisi. (B/L/D)

Day 7: Kutaisi city tour – Gelati Monastic complex – Gori – Uplistsikhe – Chardakhi – Tbilisi (300 km.)

After breakfast in the morning, see Kutaisi Synagogue, the city centre and the local market. Next proceed to Gelati Monastery Complex and Academy (12th century) once a major centre of enlightenment in Georgia, founded by King David the Builder that represents the flourishing mediaeval architecture in Georgia. The complex is UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue our way towards Tbilisi along the Silk Road and visit Gori - the birthplace of the Soviet leader Stalin. Photo-stop at the museum of Stalin and proceed to the cave town Uplistsikhe (1st millennium BC) - one of the first cities in Georgia carved into the rock. The caves were the site of pagan rituals, before Georgia became a Christian country. After inspecting the cave city, proceed to Chardakhi and enjoy tasty dinner with delicious homemade wine and assist in the master class of making Khinkali – soup dumpling.
